I’m a sucker for eyelets. To me they offer the feminine touch of lace without hovering near the does-this-remind-you-of-grandma vibe. Add a gorgeous skin-flattering hue like coral and I can’t click buy fast enough. I had so many ideas for ways to wear this shirt but I opted to go for dressy out of the gate. Both the shirt and the pencil skirt (old) are from The Limited so it was an easy match. Perhaps predictable but definitely not boring.
Next, I upped the WOW factor by switching to the black and white striped full skirt from eShakti (similar here). I love the silhouette of the skirt. Great for so many occasions! You’re sure to see this on repeat. The little silver coin purse was from my mom’s dating era in the late 70s. I’ve loved it since I was a little girl and I’m pretty sure it was made from the scales of a magical dragon.
Stripes cut on the bias – so flattering. Added to bold colors and pointed toe heels is a fun way to do office style.
I’ve got a couple of fun things coming up. I’m giving away 2 tickets to the Be Well Expo in Pasadena on ThinkBriteBeBrite.com. We’re taking the horses camping this weekend and I’ve been invited to a Halloween inspired event at Goodwill. October is always one of my favorite months. The weather is perfect all around the country and of course, there’s Halloween. Will you be dressing up this year?

I hear that Fall is coming. I see it in all the magazines but So Cal has not gotten the message. I’m not complaining though because I’m happy to keep wearing skirts and all my bright colors. I’ve been in CA for over 15 years now but my MI upbringing still has me resenting Fall as the precursor to Winter. So I’ve been trying to find things I’m looking forward to this Fall/Winter. Here is what I have so far:
Wearing boots. I even have a new pair that I got on my last trip to MI that I’ve been dying to wear.
Stew. My husband makes the best stews (no veggies for this girl) and I’m looking forward to the warm deliciousness.
Yep, that’s all I’ve got so far. I’ll keep working on it.

In unrelated “news” I’ve always gotten a ton of compliments on my red eShatki dress (here) so I thought you should know that they have 20% off their new fall line right now.
I’m loving eyelet material that is popular right now. It’s like a more structured version of lace. Alluring but not overtly sexy and definitely work appropriate. You can find dresses, pants, shirts, t-shirts and skirts in this fabulous style.

I wasn’t sure if green and coral would work together but I’m happy with how this combination turned out. I wanted to try this tank top in a more office appropriate outfit (see going out version here) and I could’ve stuck with black or other neutrals but why not blasts of color?

I bought this shirt for my husband many months ago and ever since I bought this striped skirt, I’ve had my eye on it! It’s such a fantastic color and the stripe details on the color and the cuffs is divine. Why can’t I find any cute girl shirts like this? I tried a couple of different shoe/belt combinations but this chocolate version was my favorite.

Off to a client meeting so I needed to bring back my ‘office’ A-game. Originally I was going to let the skirt be the hero of this outfit and pair it with gray shoes but these new, sassy pumps were just calling my name. Don’t you just love the zipper detail on these shoes?

Since I no longer have a full-time job, I am now a full-time networker (I guess that’s not really a word but it could be). Coffee meet ups, office visits, LinkedIn stalking…you get the idea. I wore this to one of my first in-person introductions. I’m striving for a balance of professionalism and expressing my personality. I want them to see the real me and not some dressed up fake business persona. What would you wear to networking meet up or event?
This was definitely one of my favorite color combinations for spring/summer. Aqua and coral. You may recall a similar combination (orange and aqua) here that uses the same outfit silhouette. And say “hello” to my littlest dog, Maltby.
