Off to a networking coffee date. Since the weather was fantastic I opted for layered tanks and a light cardigan. I’m so happy to be wearing sandals again too!

Dots and stripes on Monday and dots and stripes today. Totally different looks though. This skirt is very versatile! It can be worn as a maxi (here) or a halter dress (here) or as a long pencil skirt. I wish I could say that I knew all these options existed when I bought the skirt but I didn’t have that foresight. That is definitely a good result of this blog – learning how to get creative with my clothing!

My Spring/Summer wardrobe is so much better than my Fall/Winter wardrobe. That was the whole point of starting this blog – to improve my wardrobe but then I had to go and leave my job so Fall shopping never got the same financial benefit as earlier in the year. It’s nice to know that when I can dedicate time and some money to improving my outfits, I’m able to do a pretty good job.
Luckily, So Cal doesn’t get much of a winter so it won’t be too long until I can get back into my better half of wardrobe. And in the meantime, I’ll take advantage of the warm weather when it hits.

I was inspired by this outfit on Polyvore. I wish I had more of the metallics to add to my outfit (and a beautiful orange bag!) but I think this combination still turned out pretty good. I’m never quite sure what color this cardigan will look like in photos (looks sort of coral colored here) but it’s closer to a vivid red-orange in person. What do you think of these pants? My Fall/Winter wardrobe mostly consists of jeans and a few pairs of pants but I’m not so sure these are really my style anymore.

Off to a client meeting so I needed to bring back my ‘office’ A-game. Originally I was going to let the skirt be the hero of this outfit and pair it with gray shoes but these new, sassy pumps were just calling my name. Don’t you just love the zipper detail on these shoes?

I wore this for a presentation that I gave at Chapman University. It may be a bit casual but I learned last year just how uncomfortable it was to stand in heels for over an hour. So this whole get-up started with a desire to wear these comfortable boots. Lots of layering and perhaps a little too much matching. Probably not something I’ll wear again but they can’t all be winners.

Since I no longer have a full-time job, I am now a full-time networker (I guess that’s not really a word but it could be). Coffee meet ups, office visits, LinkedIn stalking…you get the idea. I wore this to one of my first in-person introductions. I’m striving for a balance of professionalism and expressing my personality. I want them to see the real me and not some dressed up fake business persona. What would you wear to networking meet up or event?

Now that I see this outfit, I’m not so sure I like it. The cutouts on the shirt add a nice point of interest but it’s either the combination of colors or the styles that just fall a little flat. Not that you thought I was an outfit-making-savant but now you see even when you actively try to put together great combinations, sometimes they just aren’t. How often do you feel ‘bleh’ about your outfits?

This was definitely one of my favorite color combinations for spring/summer. Aqua and coral. You may recall a similar combination (orange and aqua) here that uses the same outfit silhouette. And say “hello” to my littlest dog, Maltby.

Can you believe that I’m still wearing summer clothes in the middle of September? Crazy. Since I’m still lacking colored pants for fall, I’m happy to get as much use as possible from this aqua skirt. This tiered black tank top is loose fitting but still provides a nice shape. Anytime you can combine comfort and style it’s a good thing! I splurged a little when I bought this Stella & Dot necklace but I’ve worn it so many times that it was definitely worth it. I keep stalking my friend’s site for my next purchase!
