Aren’t these bright colors fun? It was only a year ago that my wardrobe was mostly gray and black. I still love a crisp black ensemble but I’m so glad I pushed myself beyond my comfort zone and bought colorful pieces. What’s your relationship with color?

I like the pattern on these jeans (despite my husband’s opinion) but I’m no longer loving the fit. They’re a little too loose at the ankles which gives them a more relaxed feel than I want. I’m thinking about turning them into shorts. Thoughts?

I just wouldn’t have believed that I could come to love yellow as part of my wardrobe. It can be a hard color for us pale types but yellow jeans are definitely a safe bet. I have worn these jeans with bold colors and with neutrals (see some more images below) and also have a yellow shirt that I am quite fond of. I’m not on the hunt for the right pair of yellow shoes.

I’ve been working on better eating habits but when I got a chance to go to happy hour with friends I couldn’t say no to a few margaritas. I managed to avoid the fried bar food so that has to count for something, right? I’ve only worn this dress one other time because it’s a little shorter than I usually wear. But for happy hour and 80° it was perfect!

I don’t recall if I’ve worn yellow and purple together previously but it made me feel so energized. Too bold? Not for me. The gray pieces definitely helped to keep it toned down but it really is a fun combination.

Since I’m not much of a floral print kind of girl, I love to mix dots with stripes. When I see floral and stripes on other people, I think it looks great. Maybe when/if I find the exact right floral print for me, I’ll get to share in the fun.
This lightweight blazer is perfect for spring both in material and color. I wore this combo to the Orange County Creative Connections meet up. It’s a great group of creative and stylish women so it was the right kind of outing for this bold combo.
In other exciting news, today is my ninth wedding anniversary! Most people that know me think it’s very appropriate that my anniversary is on April Fool’s Day. I’m never quite sure how to take that comment but I usually put it in the I’m-cool-and-quirky-and-unexpected-perhaps-even-silly column. I can’t believe it’s been nine years – they’ve flown by and we’re still crazy about each other. I’m one lucky lady!

My husband treated me to these killer blush jeans. I’ve had my eye on them since first seeing them on J’s Everyday Fashion (I particularly love this combo). The Limited shirt is a few seasons old but they match perfectly – score! These jeans will be perfect all spring and summer and can be paired with bright colors or neutrals. It’s a good reminder that just small wardrobe additions can reinvigorate your wardrobe.

I started with the tucked version of this outfit but wasn’t entirely happy with it so it ended up untucked. I was meeting a friend for lunch so I could get away with the casual version. But I did miss seeing the leopard belt. You can’t beat bright, sunny jeans on a yucky, gray day. No sun. No problem – I brought my own.
That evening I had dinner plans with a different friend (Trust me, this is an odd occurrence, I don’t have that many friends.) so I added a chunky sweater. Ever notice in most of the day-to-night outfit transitions the night version is less covered up? I get it. You’re supposed to be sexy at night. But since I’m not on the prowl for a man or a free drink, I find it more important to be warm. I guess that blows my super-secret, sexy cover.
And lastly, a picture of my cat. Why? Because this is the internet and it loves cats.

I don’t remember when the inspiration struck but I decided I wanted to pair my navy pencil skirt with an orange top. I love navy and orange together which makes it hard to believe that I haven’t done this before. And once I decided on the shirt and skirt two ways to wear it immediately came to mind. Some days you can stare into your closet and not ‘see’ anything and some days you get a two for one!

I was pleasantly surprised how well my mint manicure went with the orange top. Perhaps I’ll find an outfit combination with those colors in the future.
Yes, the yellow jeans strike again. It’s not only because I love their versatility but also because my winter pant selection is so limited. Boring even. Without a job my shopping budget has mostly been killed so I have to be creative with the things I already own. A good test for sure but not nearly as fun as shopping. Sigh.
