It doesn’t take long before my old friend red + black shows up. Although I have learned to do a better job of combining colors, this is still a classic, favorite, go-to, guarantee for me. Do you have a classic combo that you love to repeat?
I was supposed to go to France for my 40th birthday. Since I left my job last year and the new business venture hasn’t yet gotten me rolling in the dough, it has been put off. Le sigh. Why am I bringing this up now? Not sure. Something about wearing red had me craving Paris so here I sit still lusting over a trip that hasn’t yet happened.

In unrelated “news” I’ve always gotten a ton of compliments on my red eShatki dress (here) so I thought you should know that they have 20% off their new fall line right now.
I’m surprised I haven’t worn this dress more often this summer. It’s comfortable, flattering and the perfect shade of red. Have you shopped eShakti? I’ve seen their pieces show up on lots of blogs so I know their pieces really work for every day style.

I swear this shirt would look good on anyone! It has the perfect shape that flatters your chest and disguises anything else. The fact that it is sheer adds extra sass but it can be toned down with jeans and heels or amped up with a sexy pencil skirt. Isn’t versatility awesome?

I know I’m approaching a time in my style adventure where I will need to tone down the sparkle but for now I like this casual, rocker, cowgirl shirt (how many more adjectives could be added to one shirt?). It’s fun to wear with black skinnies + heels and obviously a little more laid back with light colored cropped pants and heels.

In other exciting news I’ll be attending an exclusive fashion and shopping event called Girls’ Night Out at Andaz San Diego. Shopping, cocktails, roof top scenery and spa treatments. Sounds like fun, right? Now for the better news. The first 20 people to use the code “highheels” (here) get tickets for only $20. You can’t beat that for a night of girlie fun! What to wear? What to wear?
Even after all this time of working on improving my wardrobe, I’m still a sucker for red/black/white combinations. So crisp and so bold. Ruffles on top continue down to meet up with the pleating detail on the skirt. There’s just something comforting about a classic combination.

I turned 40 recently. I took a trip back to MI to celebrate mine and my grandma’s birthdays (she turned 95!). My mom bought me these fabulous heels. The picture does not do them justice. They are sparkly but not due to sequins or glitter – it’s actually in the fabric! So fun! I couldn’t think of a better way to debut these Dorthy-esque shoes than pairing them with my favorite color – red.

Warmer weather reminded me of my white jeans and these fab heels. Both items make me happy whenever I wear them but I’ve never worn them together. I decided to keep the color palette minimal with the white top and beige blazer. I could’ve added red accessories but I didn’t want to overdo it. This is definitely the first time I’ve worn white with white but I really like the way it turned out.

I was excited when eShakti contacted me about trying their product and customization service. They were not unknown to me but I hadn’t gotten around to taking the plunge and buying one of their dresses. I’d seen other bloggers raving about them so I really can’t be certain why I’d yet to buy from them. Right about this same time, I’d realized that although red is my favorite color, I didn’t own very many red clothing items. Enter this beauty! The fit is perfect and I decided to go with the knee length version and scoop neck.
Based on their size chart I selected a 4 and it fits perfectly. And how could I forget to tell you about the pockets! I absolutely love it when dresses/skirts have pockets. They have a variety of cuts that will flatter almost any body type. This dress has a bit of a vintage feel and could be worn for work, play, a daytime wedding or perhaps in the evening with a cute cardigan.
Trust me. I haven’t sold my soul here. It really is a great dress at a reasonable price ($59.95). Plus, now through March 20 you can receive 20% off your order by using HIGHHEELS at checkout. If you are a new customer you get $25 off your first order. Pretty hard to resist, isn’t it?

I really like tan and red together but I feel like a Target employee when I wear them. I actually did wear a red and tan combo to Target once and I got asked for help two times! So, I’m hoping white jeans help to break the Target uniform look because I really don’t want to retire this color combo. How do you style this color combination?
